      My mother's side from Nova Scotia, Canada and my father's side from Abruzzi, Italy. They all settled in Everett, MA.

      My mother's grandfather sold ice that people bought so that their food would not spoil.

      3. Watch the Immigration Through Ellis Island: Award Winning Documentary linked below and be prepared for a class discussion

                                 from Blizzard Bag 2 to list the ingredients in Spanish and English on the handout.

                             2.  Rehearse your lines for your newscast.

          Objective:  I can find a Hispanic recipe on the internet, in recipe books or from relatives to 

                            enhance my food vocabulary and compare foods of the USA to those of the Hispanic

                            world.

                              I can produce a segment of news such as weather, crime, health or entertainment to 

                            practically apply my Spanish conversation skills.

          Assessment: This will count as one graded classwork assignment upon return to school.

            3. Read pp.154-155 and list in Spanish 3 popular snack foods in the United States and 3 popular snack foods in Mexico. Write the list on paper.

             

            Objectives:

            I can ask and tell time and refer to details and examples in a dialogue to analyze schedules.

            I can read an analog clock in both English and Spanish.

            I can read 3 paragraphs about Mexican foods in Spanish and use the footnotes and pictures, as well as bold print to discuss and list the popular foods!

            Assignments:

            1. Read p. 147, complete Actividad 1, and write what Sara says about her schedule.

            2. List 3 popular snack foods in the United States and 3 popular snack foods in Mexico

            Assessment:  This will count as one classwork grade upon your return to school.
